The Salvation Army Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
Clarksburg, WV – The Salvation Army has received $2,700 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. The Salvation Army will use the gift to purchase food for the Clarksburg Food Pantry, which has seen a drastic increase in client need.
“The Salvation Army, Clarksburg Corps is grateful for the ongoing support of Food Lion. This generous gift of $2,700 will help us to continue feeding the many families of Harrison County. The Food Lion of Nutter Fort, WV, regularly donates fresh food items that are of great support to our mission, and this gift from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation will further help us meet the food insecurities within the community,” said Christina Smith, the Corps Business Administrator.
The Clarksburg Salvation Army Food Pantry gave over 1,100 grocery orders in the first quarter of 2023. With inflation rates directly affecting food costs coupled with the recent food stamp benefit changes, they stated that they are seeing a drastic increase in need for assistance in the community. It is the mission of The Salvation Army to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
